High Commissioner António Guterres
Mr. António Guterres started as UN High Commissioner for Refugees on June 15, 2005, succeeding Mr. Ruud Lubbers of the Netherlands. A former Portuguese prime minister, Mr. Guterres was elected by the UN General Assembly to a five-year term and is the UN refugee agency's 10th High Commissioner.
The 1951 Refugee Convention
The Geneva Refugee Convention is more than 50 years old. It has been instrumental in helping an estimated 50 million people restart their lives, but today is surrounded by controversy.

UNHCR and the People’s Office have signed a Memorandum of Understanding about the integration of displaced populations.
Final results of 2005 refugee registration
The Commissioner for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia and UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which conducted, on the basis of a Memorandum of Understanding, a registration of refugees from the republics of former Yugoslavia residing on the territory of the Republic of Serbia, hereby announce the results.
